Bettina Liano is the founder and former owner of the eponymous Bettina Liano Brand. Founded in 1984, the brand took off when a dress she made was spotted by an A-list store buyer on Melbourne's most revered High Street.

Bettina Liano's signature feminine style, including her draped jersey dresses and seductively tailored denim jeans, has been exported to department stores in the USA and Asia. Her designs have also become favourites among international celebrities and performers such as Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Grace Jones, Aaliyah, Lil' Kim, Portia de Rossi, Natalie Portman, Serena Williams, Sophie Monk, P!nk, Kelly Rowland, Madonna, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Courtney Love, and Kylie Minogue, to name a few.

In 2013, after a Design and License Agreement gone wrong, Bettina was forced to sell her renowned trademarks to the Licensee. These were identified by her eponymous brand name and the iconic yellow flag which appeared on her denim jeans. These jeans became a cornerstone of the 1990s era in Australia.Bettina was proclaimed by the Australian press as "the jean queen" and "the brand we all know and love." 

Fast forward to 2024, Bettina Liano is still making jeans in Melbourne Australia, under the name of By Bettina Liano - BYBL pronounced b.y.b.l or 'bible'.for short. Established  2014.
